ISABEL BETETA
Artistic Director
Graduated from Rice University in 1977 with a BA in art History, and French Literature. In Mexico she initiated her dance studies with Margarita Contreras, while studying ballet and other techniques with different teachers.
In 1982 she stayed in New York and studied for several months Horton technique (with the Joyce Tristler Dance Company), Pilates with Carola Trier and Ballet with Zinna Rommet. There after she studied in Cuba, modem and Ballet, Falco with Juan Antonio Rodea, Contact Improvisiation and Butoh with several teachers. Professionally she has danced briefly with "Taller Coreográfico UNAM", directed by Gloria Contreras and for several years with "Danza Libre" UNAM ", "Metropolis" and "Contempodanza". She has been guest artist in the following groups: "Integro" from Peru directed by Oscar Naters, "Retazos" from Cuba, directed by Isabel Bustos, "Danza Universitaria" and the company from the University of Guadalajara, as well as working with independent choreographers. She has participates in most national festivals such as the Festival Intemacional Cervantino, and Gran Festival de la Ciudad de Mexico; San Luis Potosi as well as International Festivals in Argentina, Peru, Spain, Ecuador, Bulgaria, Germany, Rumania and the U.S.A among other countries. She has participates in many interdisciplinary performances such as "Malinzin" of Antonia Guerrero, and for Gerardo Suter ‘s photographic multimedia Exhibitions. Since 2001 she has worked in collaboration with film director Wolfgang Scholz in multimedia stage pieces such as “Landscapes of Love” and “Cicles”.
